When I was in PR Writing class at the world’s best journalism school, the world’s best journalism school was also my client.
To recruit prospective students, the Missouri School of Journalism uses fact sheets describing its various programs, like the school newspaper and radio station. My task was to create an updated fact sheet for Vox Magazine, a student-run magazine, that would appeal to prospective magazine journalism students without overwhelming them with too much information.
I worked with a partner, the amazing Jillian Mullin, who is a graphic designer. We wanted the fact sheet to be both visually appealing and entertaining to read. So we didn’t just create a sheet: We created a brochure, with a modern design and compelling copy. The visuals would draw the reader in, while the copy would give them the information they needed with the authority, flair, and personality of a Mizzou journalism insider.
