As the PR intern at Ulta Beauty, I volunteered to draft as many pitches as possible for the agency that Ulta Beauty worked with.
When editors reached out asking about any Fourth of July deals we had going on, Ulta Beauty did not actually have any sales that were specific to the Fourth of July. But I wanted Ulta to stand out. So I developed a pitch with Fourth of July story angles for the promotions we already had going on.
Gathering information about all of our promotions, I listed ways to package them and make them relevant for the Fourth of July: Creating on-trend summer looks, beach essentials and suncare, and red, white, and blue products. After sending out the pitch, we received placements in popular outlets like Bustle.com and BeautyStyleWatch.com among others. The published stories used my pitch angles of summer looks and product recommendations.
